Given that this was the last week for the original four couples, we started out with a lot of determination. Finishing up at Robin’s was our absolute priority. The bathroom needed to be finished, including mudding and painting, installing a new toilet and vanity, lights, and toilet tissue and towel bars. We persevered, and by Thursday afternoon the work was complete. Robin was busily putting furniture back in place, unpacking her kitchen and putting things into the new cupboards, and smiling. Oh, her smiles. It all came together, and it is just beautiful.

Work also continued at Annie’s, tearing down a water-damaged ceiling and replacing it with insulation and new sheetrock. A lot of time was spent moving the various things the family had stored in that room before we were able to actually work on the ceiling.

On Wednesday we were joined by two new couples who will be replacing the project director and office manager. A third couple arrived Thursday. One more couple is expected Friday.

The highlight had to be celebrating Robin’s house blessing. A significant group was there, representing the LTRG, Taylor County Strong, family members, and of course MDSers. It was truly a celebration.

Those of us who are departing this weekend leave with some regret but also a good deal of satisfaction. What a wonderful opportunity MDS offers us in our retirement years. If you have ever considered participating, do not hesitate. You will be blessed.
