Newton, TX – RV – Mar. 2-8, 2025
This week has been full of new beginnings. New members joined our team this past weekend: Tye and Nancy, Jim and Linda, Steve and Cindy, and Ron & Myra. Over half of us are new to the project! Interestingly, we are equally from the USA and from Canada. Weather forecasts are discussed in both Fahrenheit and Celsius.
The push was on this week to complete the Wright home. Windows were caulked and trim painted. Then painting continued on the ceiling porch. Construction was completed on the handicap ramp to the front porch. Concrete pads have been formed up and poured
Work moved ahead at the Gonzalez home. The bathroom work is progressing with plumbing, backing and insulation for the tub surround completed. Bathroom fixtures are installed and water is functioning. Wall drywall was cut to route 110 amp wire for kitchen range fan. Wall switches and plugs that had been sunk into the walls are now flush mounted. Kitchen cabinets have been installed, sanded and varnished; the countertop is in place. Kitchen ceiling and walls have been sanded and painted. The homeowner liked the idea of having arches in the main living area opening the space and flow; instead of the two doors initially planned. Two arches have been created, plastered and ready for paint.
Work started on Hugley’s home. Ramp is being refurbished with new handrails; rotten stair treads have been replaced
Isaac’s and Lee’s projects are being reviewed to determine what can be done in the remaining time and material shopping is underway

Reflection:
Tuesday morning, we had a heavy rainstorm; the rain coming in vast sheets of water!! We were safe, however, two of our personal trailers were damaged by falling branches and a heavy tree limb: Dave & Nancy’s and Bill & Sandi’s. We are grateful to our heavenly Father for keeping us from bodily harm!! Ironic that we have travelled to Texas to bring people home and now a couple from our team needed our gifts and abilities to bring them home. Some of us were out in the great downpour wrapping Bill & Sandi’s trailer in a tarp. Fortunately, the campground management provided a motel room for Bill & Sandi to stay for one night. They are now back in their wrapped trailer, doing well even in the circumstances.
