Newton, TX – RV – Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 2025

The last week of the month – we can’t believe that we have been here for four weeks.  And then, we look at the progress the team has made at the two homes we are currently working on, and we comment to each other about our sore muscles, and we know!

The crew of Jean, Lori, Vernon, and Dave worked at the Diggles home installing base trim, end panels and back splash, cabinet knobs and handles.  They also hung the cabinets in the utility room.  On Thursday everyone moved to the Minnix home, joining Ed, Tom, Doug and Duane.   Work included hanging doors, applying finish to the kitchen cabinets, touch up painting and installing the appliances.  We are on the final days of this home; the house blessing will be Thursday, February 6.

On Monday, Vernon, Dave and Duane began preliminary work on the next house on the list – the Thomas mobile home.  They pulled the skirting to inspect the floors for mold – they look good.  Work on this site will begin next week.

Thursday evening, we had our “regular” potluck dinner and games.  On Friday and Saturday, several of the guys worked on the office trailer which has some water leaks.  They are confident that we will not need to use wastebaskets anymore to catch the drips!

We are fortunate – no one is leaving our group – everyone is staying on for another month.  On Saturday, Lynn and Darlene arrived from Colorado to join us for the month of February.  We have met our goal at the Minnix home – we will see her move into a new home.  A used shed has been transformed into a cute tiny home!
