This week, we welcomed seven volunteers from Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Winnipeg, Waterloo, La Manzanilla (Mexico) and Port Moody. We had two young people join us as volunteers and recipients of 2025 MDS Canada Service Scholarships.

The weather was mainly sunny in the early part of the week with short windy periods.

A brief update on progress at the build site: We continue to make good progress with some skilled carpenters assisting us. This week, the focus was on the roof, crawl space completion and the attachment of the exterior Tyvek layer. As anticipated, the gusty winds of Lytton made installing the Tyvek a real contest, with the wind winning one round in a spectacular way.

One fun surprise was the arrival of Gary, a barber from Victoria. Gary is a close friend of the homeowner and, when he found out we were volunteers, he offered free haircuts to anyone who wanted one. In one case, the trim involved dramatically getting rid of a two-winter mop of hair.

A memorable week it was, with very tasty suppers to reward the hard work. We continue to value your prayers for safety.

This coming week we hope to get going with soffits, various flashing installations and exterior insulation.
