Liberty, TX – RV – Feb. 2-8, 2025
This week’s weather in southeast Texas was finally warm and dry with temperatures even getting up in the 80’s! This helped the team have a very productive week at Jose’s house. One of the first items of business was for Ray and Jim to diagnose and repair the water pump which was destroyed in the flood. A new pump was ordered and installed, and throughout the week Jim worked on priming the pump and worked on the plumbing. He also traced the electrical wiring.
Another important prerequisite was for Peggy and Darlene to organize the tool trailer, so it was easier to access tools needed for the project. Jonathan, Tye, Ray and Darlene worked on installing drywall; Eleanor, Peggy and Wilma worked on taping and mudding and started sanding.
Tye and Nancy measured for baseboard and door trim that needed to be replaced. They also removed some of the old door trim. When the baseboard arrived, Nancy and Peggy began painting. Finally, during much of the week, Pete, the Project Director, was out meeting with Hope Disaster Recovery and looking at more projects for March as well as ordering needed materials and buying much needed tools.
Our team enjoyed teambuilding and fellowship on the weekend! On Friday morning Tye cooked us all breakfast to order on his new griddle. He did such an excellent job that we told him that he could cook for us every weekend! On Sunday we all attended a lovely service at the First Baptist Church of Dayton and had lunch at Texas Seafood and Steakhouse.
