Work in Lahaina, Hawaii kicks off with a strong start. The kitchen and shower area at base camp is nearly complete, and volunteers enjoyed their first meal cooked in the new kitchen this week.

At the job sites, one crew is finishing the remaining wall framing while another prepares to pour a foundation later this week, with framing to begin Monday. A fourth home is expected to have its foundation poured within the next two weeks. Trusses are scheduled to arrive December 11, and there will be ongoing work for volunteers until then.

The Schrag family will arrive November 25 to serve as leadership volunteers. Most volunteers have arranged their own transportation, and local rental options are available. On weekends, volunteers have been enjoying local parks, beaches, and water activities.

Five of six showers at base camp are operational, and two washers and dryers are now in place. The tool container has been released from inspection and will soon be unpacked for use. Equipment and vehicle use remain well-coordinated, and construction waste is being managed through a local station partnership.

Funding remains stable, and volunteers are reminded to bring sun protection. Progress continues across all areas of the project as volunteers work together to restore homes and hope in Lahaina.
