Lahaina, HI – Feb. 15-21, 2026
After a fun, activity-packed weekend, the same group of volunteers from last week dug in again Monday morning.
The team at Jelyn’s house continued with flooring, sanding and painting throughout this week. They painted interior doors and installed kitchen cabinets.
The group at Valerie’s house worked on framing and roof preparation, They set fascia and spent a couple days installing roof sheeting. They moved scaffolding and finished preparing for next inspection.
Those at Clint’s house painted, caulked and trimmed. They prepared for bathroom tile. They installed baseboards and cabinet hardware, along with door knobs and door latches. By the end of the week, they had completed installing the bathroom tile. They hung a door and worked on the porch. They cleaned up and moved supplies. As an added bonus, they also built a picnic table for Clint.
Monday evening we all enjoyed Black Forest dessert in honor of Tammy’s birthday. Wednesday evening, we had two visitors, arranged for us by the Long Term Recovery Group. Nichole, director of the Aloha House and a board member on Long Term Recovery Group, along with Aloha House lead case manager, Kyra joined us for supper. Aloha House provides support for those with mental illness and addictions. The two women talked and answered questions about their work, the Hawaiian people and their involvement and connectivity with the Long Term Recovery Group.
This entire group worked hard the past two weeks. We will miss them when they return home this weekend.
