Elk, WA – Jan. 18- 24, 2026
We enjoyed having volunteers from a variety of locations to join the three women from PA. British Columbia, Washington, Colorado and Ohio, and new crew leaders from Illinois and Virginia.
Hanging sheetrock at Bill’s is about 70% complete, and they began to blow in insulation in the attic on Friday. The hope is to have these tasks completed early next week. A crew has been working tediously on the mudding and sanding at Steve’s house. Plumbing work continues at Linda’s.
The cooks put together a gift basket to give to Native as a “thank you” for the frybread meal she prepared for us. They love making a weekly visit to Bill and Native’s to share stories together.
Several volunteers noticed a fire circle near the bunk house, so we got permission to use it. Scrap wood and gathered branches were used to build a campfire Thursday evening. It was a fun time of singing and enjoying the warmth on a cold evening.
