Each MDS trip is a special experience, all different but united by a desire to serve God and people. This week, 32 volunteers joined MDS at Denare Beach to do just that. Coming from Southern Ontario, and across Canada, joined together by willing hands and hearts, ready to serve.

Much work was completed this week. At the beginning of the week, a crew went out to Dianne’s house to assist in mucking out her basement. A fridge and furnace was removed, a hole was filled with dirt, and a drainage trench dug.

Plumbing was completed in all homes, and water was turned on the by the end of the week. All roofing, soffit and fascia was also completed. At the Harrison house, the siding was started, and rim joist insulation was completed. At the Monias house, the basement bedroom walls were framed up, rim joist insulation and strapping was completed. At the O’Brian house, the siding was completed, as well as the soffit and fascia. At the Lauze house, the garage siding was taken down, and the roof strapping completed. On Thursday, a crew poured a concrete pad and basement under the hot sun. Some doors and trim were painted as well. A lot of hard work was done this week!

As I reflect on the past week, I am overwhelmed at the goodness of God. God’s goodness was evident in how we got to serve at MDS, in the team here this week, in the crew leaders and kitchen staff, and in the work completed. It amazes me to see the hand of God at work in so many people’s lives, in touching the hearts of the community in Denare Beach. The fingerprints of His goodness, through the many volunteers at MDS will impact families and communities for generations to come.
