Conroe, TX – SYP – June 22-28, 2025

Cooks for this week were Gabby Bomberger and Beth Bomberger from Pennsylvania.  Katie & Jonathon Snyder from IN, are the year-long volunteers still with us, and will continue to serve as Crew Leaders until early August.  Also here for this week were Crew Leaders Ed Basinger and Bill Metschulat, Project Director Abe Wiebe and Office Manager Emily Goertz.  The weekly volunteers were a SYP group of 19 from Fairview, OK and two men from Indiana, bringing the total of volunteers to 29.  We had a full house!

Crews worked on seven houses this week.  The Essman house was completed, with final touches on the new ramp, and repair of the front deck and back deck skirting.  Most trim and finishing work was completed at the Falbe house, along with cabinet construction.  At the Garney house, a new small deck and stairs were constructed at the back door, and drywall finishing and painting was done in the bathroom, along with finishing work on the shower. New sites included: one-day job at the McCarver home removing a carpet and building a fence gate; fence building and siding repair on a three-day project at the Odell home; at the Duarte home, a damaged ceramic floor was removed and underlayment and laminate flooring is being installed; at another home, mold cleaning, drywall repair and painting was begun.

 Highlights of the week included completing a couple of quick jobs and beginning work on several more homes.

Next week we hope to finish work on Falbe (a long drive!) and Garney homes and open several new sites that hopefully will be somewhat closer to base camp.

Joining us this weekend are incoming cooks Sovilla Plank and Fannie Mae Yoder from Arthur, Il, and Crew Leader Norm Yoder from Alaska.
