Conroe, TX – Feb. 22- 28, 2026
The highlight of the week for Conroe MDS was our lunch at Mr.Crumbley ’s house on Friday.
A group of 16 volunteers from the Leamington area in Ontario, Canada joined us in Conroe this week.
From day one, the group volunteering at the Crumbley house connected in a special way with the homeowner.
They spent the week finishing the painting, flooring, and hung all the doors and trim.
At the nightly report time, they shared about volunteers sitting on a log beside Mr.Crumbley and talking. They heard about many aspects of his life. The most striking thing was his gratitude in the midst of his current living situation. He greeted them daily with a prayer of blessing over the entire group.
The work at the Molina house moved right along as they completed the drywall finishing on Monday so they could move to painting in the middle of the week and start flooring and kitchen cabinets by Friday.
The homeowner provided tamales for the crew on Thursday when they arrived.
Volunteers also worked on repairs on storm damaged homes.
All week we heard so much about Lester Crumbley. Friday at noon, 29 of us made the hour long trip to the Crumbley house for lunch with our awesome cooks providing a lunch for the family. The volunteers gave the grandchildren a few gifts and photos of all the weekly volunteers from the past 2 months.
Mr.Crumbley served us by praying and speaking Gods blessing over the MDS volunteers.
What a beautiful way for the February Longterm Volunteers to end a wonderful month serving in Conroe, TX.
