We are now five weeks into the project. Our time has gone quickly, a lot of work has been accomplished. March seems like so long ago when we first started, meeting homeowners, setting up camp, meeting our team for the first time. A verse that comes to mind as we work and plan our days is Proverbs 16:9: “A person’s heart plans the way, But the LORD directs the steps.”

Last week we had a great crew from the Old Colony Church from the Dresden, Ontario area. We were blessed with much energy, professionalism and enthusiasm. As a group we got two new roofs onto homes and drywall was installed in a couple of homes. Much joy was seen as we witnessed these families work together and bond with the leadership and each other as well as with homeowners.

Every evening after our dinner we have sharing time. People share what work they were involved with, what God moments they saw. On Friday we changed things up a bit. Each one present was asked to share their highlight of the week. Things that were highlighted included the joy of working together, God’s blessings for every day, friendships that developed, the tourism event at the Glace Bay Miner’s Museum that we enjoyed on Thursday evening.

MDS is a combination of building our relationship with our LORD, friendship with each other, and the joy of serving.
