MDS is monitoring the destruction from Hurricane Helene
Hurricane Helene made landfall on Thursday evening as a Category 4 hurricane in the Big Bend area of Florida.
The storm continues to push inland into Georgia and the southeast. As of Friday morning, Helene had been downgraded to a tropical storm, while still unleashing life-threatening high winds and flooding.
Forecasters expect this slow-moving storm to create a 2–to–3–day event.
Wind damage, storm surge and flooding will likely be the most destructive. Over 3.5 million customers in Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia have lost power. Authorities attribute least four deaths to this storm.
