What Happened

When remnants of Typhoon Halong struck Western Alaska, it brought record-breaking winds and flooding to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta and devastated remote villages.

What MDS Is Doing

MDS work will focus on building SIP houses as well as home repair work. Volunteers will stay in the local school.

Location

Toksook Bay is a city and village on Nelson Island in Bethel Census Area, Alaska. As of the 2020 census, Toksook Bay had a population of 658. Toksook Bay was established in 1964 by residents of nearby Nightmute. Nunakauyaq is its ‘real name’.
