What Happened

In the spring of 2022, a tremendous amount of rain weakened the structure of a family home in Libau, MB. The roof collapsed, and the dwelling was condemned as unlivable. Significant health challenges made repair impossible for the family to do on their own.

What MDS Is Doing

The Mennonite Disaster Service Manitoba Unit is working to build a new home for the family in Libau, MB.

If you’re interested in volunteering on this response, email mdscanada@mds.org and we will put you in touch with Manitoba Unit leadership.

Location

Libau is a small rural community situated on the eastern edge of the Red River Estuary, just north of Selkirk. The marshes close to Libau are known as the Netley-Libau Marsh and is known for its tremendous concentrations of southward migrating birds.
