Fraser Lake Camp, ON – Family Project
Other
What Happened
Although there was no disaster, MDS volunteers will be supporting Fraser Lake Camp by building cabins, program buildings and some basic furniture pieces. The Family Project is designed for families to work together. MDS does not provide childcare or a separate program for children. Fraser Lake Camp is located on 275 acres of mature hard and softwood forests at the edge of Fraser Lake. Originally begun by a group of Mennonite people in 1955, it continues to serve the larger community around Bancroft and beyond. The camp is located 30 kms northeast of Bancroft, 200 kms west of Ottawa and almost 300 kms northeast of Toronto.
What MDS Is Doing
This project will run for four weeks from July 7 – August 2, 2024. Families can sign up for a week on a first–come first–served basis. (Weeks: July 7-12, July 14-19, July 21-26, July 28-August 2).
Each week we welcome 3-4 families with children (approx. 12-15 people). There will be age–appropriate work for all volunteers.
MDS will provide: campsites for RVs, tent trailers, and tents, or accommodation in rustic cabins (limited cabin availability), supervision for construction, tools, meals, and hard hats.
Family will provide: transportation to and from the project, their own RV, tent trailer or tent if not staying in cabins. Families should also bring lawn chairs and work clothes.
