Camp Sakanaga – Family Program
Hurricanes
What Happened
Sakanaga was impacted by Hurricane Helene like much of the surrounding areas. The camp has come a long way in clean up but there is still work to be done.
What MDS Is Doing
Sakanaga is owned by a Christian gap-year program that has been working to renovate the property. The camp hosts students nine months out of the year and runs retreats and events on the weekends and in the summer months. Families or groups serving together with MDS will focus on helping the camp with restoration of old buildings, tree and brush clean up and preparations for events.
Location
Located near Marietta, South Carolina, Sakanaga recently was a rundown camp not in use. A few years ago, a Christian gap-year program was gifted the property and began to renovate the property. The camp hosts students nine months out of the year and runs church retreats and events on the weekends and in the summer months.
