Construction Supervisor

The Construction Supervisor partners with the Project Director, supervising the day-to-day construction needs of the project.

Tasks

  • Together with the Project Director, support and lead Crew Leaders. Identify Crew Leaders from within the weekly group when additional Crew Leaders are needed.
  • Meet with Crew Leaders to schedule work, assign volunteers, assign vehicles, and determine equipment and material needs.
  • Work with Crew Leaders to ensure that Weekly Volunteers have the skills to complete construction tasks, teaching and training volunteers new skills as needed.
  • Balance productivity and providing a positive volunteer experience.
  • Work with the Project Director and Crew Leaders to model and implement on-the-job safety practices, emphasizing safety during weekly orientations and on the job site.
  • In collaboration with the Project Director, establish and maintain clear communication and expectations with all volunteers. Use the influence of your role to listen, support, include, guide, and provide direction working together as a team.
  • Visit all job sites regularly and ensure that the work meets MDS standards and complies with required building codes.
  • Oversee the construction process to ensure good quality work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Project Director to order and deliver materials, schedule sub-contractors, and schedule inspections.
  • Make sure the tools and equipment are clean, in safe working order, and stored in an organized fashion. Work with the Project Director to have tools replaced as needed.
  • Submit all invoices and receipts to the Office Manager daily.
  • Model humility and sensitivity to the cultural and religious diversity of volunteers, homeowners, and the community.
  • Work through disagreements with integrity, fairness, and humility to maintain relationships.
  • Assist with other tasks, as requested (e.g. cleaning, running errands).
