This week the group was from Lancaster Co., PA.  Jon set up a painting studio in the gym beside the Unit. The women painted all the trim, doors and cement boards for Mr. Lindsey and Ms. Phillips.  Jon made some drying racks that were able to hold a lot of the boards.

Norman led the men in framing up the interior walls for Mr. Lindsey’s home.  The exterior porch was also completed.

On Friday a few ladies stayed behind to clean. Everyone else went to Ms. Williams home to fill block. The group had planned to leave early and especially now to beat the snow storm.  The crew leader called in the reinforcements – cooks, office manager and the other long termers. Even the pastor and his son came out to the job. We all had a good time and the job got done before the predicted ice storm.

We had a few repair jobs that needed some new floor, trim and cabinets to make homes safer and warmer.

Thanks to the electrician {in this week’s group}; he made everyone brighter by changing lights in the kitchen and dining room.

We were delighted to host the local contractor and his wife. They had quite the experience from Hurricane Helene. Later in the week we hosted church members. Prayer brought healing to this couple.

Due to the upcoming ice storm, the cooks changed their shopping day. The stores were filled with shoppers. Perishable items were either wiped out or low in stock. Thankfully every item was crossed off the shopping list!

From bag pipes, to trying to entice the cooks to use Q-tips to unclog paint, to fishing with a branch to retrieve a tape measure out of the air duct, to the cooks mixing concrete instead of cookies, it’s been another productive week.
