Region 3 MDS meeting: a recap

The Region 3 MDS Annual Meeting took place at San Antonio Mennonite Church in San Antonio, Texas on Nov. 14-15, 2025. The focus of the weekend was “Neighboring with Compassion.” In addition to the regular board training sessions and business meeting, attendees learned and heard stories of neighboring from John Garland, San Antonio Mennonite pastor; Becky Teiwes and Abraham Diaz Alonso, MCC ministry partners; Cindy Johnson, executive director of La Posada Providencia; and Brenda Fox, Prayerstream founder.

Not only was the neighboring theme found in the presentations given to the group but in the service offered to local ministries. Two MCC comforters were knotted, over 70 nonperishable supper kits were packed for partners in southern Texas and La Posada Providencia, and six “tummy time kits” were assembled for a ministry with families of new babies run by San Antonio Mennonite Church at their La Casa de Maria y Marta.  Attendees also visited their neighbors by eating Saturday lunch at the restaurant across the intersection from the church.

Other highlights included having two staff children join the weekend fun, staying at a hotel right on the San Antonio Riverwalk and enjoying an evening narrated riverboat cruise through downtown San Antonio. Next year’s Region 3 Annual Meeting will take place November 13-14, 2026 at The Ark on Table Rock Lake near Eagle Rock, Missouri.
