This week, there was a smooth transition of leadership in Barrington with the Project Director, Office Manager, and Cook all new to the project. We had one new and three returning weekly volunteers. Our little group ranged in areas from Ontario to Alberta.

Our week started by completing the plaster as all the drywall was installed last week. We did a great job for being relatively new to this task, but sanding was not a favorite! Painting the primer would be the test, and except for a few touchups, it looked great! By the end of the week there was only a little painting left to do. The doors, window casing, and base board were also painted. The heat exchanger also got installed. Looking forward to installing doors, cabinets, casing, and baseboard this week.

At the end of the week nobody left hungry! Thanks Connie.

Part of our agreement with the Birchwood Community Center was to do some repair and changes to the site. We installed a shower in the ladies’ washroom, so because of that we needed to move the accessible door and change the wall. Job done with only some paint left to complete.

Brittney, Brandon, and Peggy joined us for our meal on Wednesday giving us a report of some of their experiences during the fire. Very much appreciated, thank you. We’ve had very positive interaction with the people we’ve met!
