Lytton, BC – June 15-25, 2025
On June 14, we said our goodbyes to the last two scholarship students who left at 4:30 am so that they could see the ocean before their flight. Mark was so kind to take them to White Rock. Thanks Mark!
Painting the inside of the house was well on its way so when the new crew arrived, they could finish the second coat and touch-ups. The final crew came from Saskatoon, SK. They were no strangers to MDS and, before long, the painting was complete, and the flooring was started. The flooring was vinyl click, and the entire floor was completed within 2 days. It looks great! Next the doors were hung and painted. Meanwhile, the baseboard and trim that Nikiah, the homeowner, had built from rough cut lumber was also clear coated. Everything came together quickly.
Nikiah had borrowed an excavator from a friend and moved dirt around the house to a proper grade so that the forms could be built for the entrance. To meet net zero requirements, the deck needed to be cemented rather than built with wood. Grading, forms and poured concrete were all completed by Wednesday, June 25 and the volunteers were on their way home.
We were informed that the kitchen cabinets will only arrive mid July. After that’s complete there will be a home dedication! Stay tuned.
A very big thank you to everyone who was involved with the project in Lytton!
