Disaster: Phillip and Michelle Ramirez along with their 2 children lost their home and all possessions to a fire on January 2023.

Story: God has moved many obstacles in preparing the way for this new build—from the funding for materials by the local church, the strong support from the local and regional MDS units and expedited inspections. Materials continue to arrive just in the nick of time to keep things going. We are convinced that God is building much more than a house in Michigan’s remote Upper Peninsula.  God is building up his church and kingdom though this build. Phillip, the home owner, recently shared an emotional testimony at our morning devotional before work, “I was content with living in an old trailer but now I’m being blessed with a new house!

Project: The Michigan Unit had its first official workday on this new home build on September 18. Mild fall weather has allowed good progress; the foundation and outside walls were in place within two weeks. Local volunteers did most of the early work. In recent weeks groups from Fairview Mennonite Church and an Amish group from the Brutus area assisted in getting the house closed in, dry and secured.

Need: We currently have need for  people with some with skills in siding, electrical, plumbing. In the coming months we will need drywallers and finish carpenters.
