Amory, MS – March 23-29, 2025
Our month has ended and the work of MDS has closed after 6 months of restoring homes in Amory, MS. Sixty jobs have been completed. This week’s group of 12 young volunteers from PA were essential in the big push for final completions and packing up our unit.
We were honored to have a home dedication at Ms. Gracie’s. Her daughter and granddaughter will be moving into the house, and they expressed much gratitude to all the volunteers who worked to restore their home. A wall hanging was presented that was made by women from Clarence Center – Akron Mennonite Church, Akron, NY. After the ceremony, Monroe Strong, the Long Term Recovery Group, treated everyone to a BBQ meal at the Rib Shack just down the street.
We received many words of thanks for the work of MDS in Amory by workers at the hardware stores, people along the street, and the girl making a heart symbol with her hands when she saw the MDS vehicle at a stop sign. Thanks be to God for the impact of MDS on the community of Amory, and for over 400 volunteers giving of themselves to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
