What Happened
On August 18, 2023, the Bush Creek East Wildfire ran through the North Shuswap region, destroying 176 structures throughout the areas of Adams Lake, Scotch Creek, Lee Creek and Celista.
What MDS Is Doing
MDS volunteers built four new homes and repaired four more in 2024.
In 2025, MDS will focus on building one new home near Adams Lake, as well as doing some repair work on an additional home.
Location
Several small communities are located in the area around Shuswap Lake as well as Adams Lake in the Thompson Okanagan region of BC. MDS will be working near Adams Lake in an area called Lower Adams Community. The Shuswap area is a popular holiday destination and a favourite place for houseboating and water recreation.
