Port Charlotte, FL – Dec. 8-14, 2024
This week our volunteers consisted of a group of 11 young men and their driver from Pennsylvania, a newly retired individual from Pennsylvania, as well as two young men from Virginia. Marlene Martin joined us for a week to be with her husband, Ed, who is a crew leader.
We spent our time at nine different locations, trying to finish up some jobs before we close for Christmas. The volunteers worked hard to get a lot of small jobs finished up. We painted, did a lot of drywall (hanging, taping, and mudding). We installed some doors and flooring and trim. We started work at the Simmons house. The couple is still living there and there is a lot of stuff in the house. So, we are moving things from rooms to work on them. The homeowners are super excited to see the progress and anxious for a house that is repaired and organized.
Some electrical work was done at the Tolbert house to make turning on lights more convenient.
Around camp, Erv helped a local man who lost his home and is now living in a camper on the church property by figuring out his electrical problem.
Several weekly and long-term volunteers helped at the Food Bank on Thursday afternoon.
