Happy Thanksgiving from Port Charlotte! Today (Thanksgiving) is a warm sunny 80* in Florida. We are blessed with a group of thirteen cousins from Ohio along with two volunteers from Michigan and three volunteers from Canada. In addition, we welcomed Peter and Margaret Goertzen, new construction Supervisor and Head cook, Erv and Esther Wilms, Crew Leader and Asst Cook along with Daryl Horst, Crew Leader and Andrew Zimmerman LTV.  Our Port Charlotte team grew to thirty people. It was a challenge to set up work teams. The week went well with three projects completed and new projects initiated.

Dry wall and insulation were installed at several locations, along with carpet removal, painting, and new floor installation.  One team developed a relationship with a client to such a degree he began helping with his own home repairs and joining the team to eat lunch.

Thanksgiving Day we enjoyed a Turkey dinner with the Wintergarden Presbyterian Church as they served the community. Our cooks and weekly assistants supplied mashed potatoes and gravy along with whoopie pies and pumpkin pie for the occasion. Our group added some impromptu lively music to the Thanksgiving guests.

We are grateful to be the hands and feet of Jesus in Port Charlotte. We will see four team members, Roger, Henry, Keith and Janet departing for home the end of the week.  We are grateful for the opportunity to be engaged in lives of our clients and the Port Charlotte community.
