Human Resources Manager (HRM)

Term: Full-Time/exempt position

Location: Hybrid (Combined office and home based)

Primary Responsibilities

Plans, leads, develops and administer human resource strategies, policies, compensation and benefits, and payroll in compliance with labor laws and regulations.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Executive Director (ED)

Responsibilities

  1. Staffing strategy
    • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organizations human resource and talent strategy as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention and succession planning
    • Gives leadership to continuous improvement of employee culture
    • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for staff
  2. Leads the talent acquisition process, from job description to recruitment, interviews, hiring and orientation, in collaboration with managers.
  3. Wages & Benefits program
    • Administers wages & benefits program including conducting analyses, developing and implementing and serving as the primary contact with providers.
    • Analyses trends in compensation and benefits and proposes programs to ensure MDS attracts and retains talent that aligns with our mission.
    • Manages the cloud-based HR/payroll platform and administers payroll
    • Develops and implements the MDS staffing and benefits budget
  4. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviewing policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  5. Develops and administers the performance assessment process
  6. Serves as MDS’ representative on the Board of Mutual Aid Sharing Program (MASP)
  7. Serves as staff representative on the board HR Committee (HRC)
  8. Member of the Leadership team and Manager’s team
  9. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and passion for the MDS mission, vision and core values
  • Commitment to the Anabaptist faith and peace position and active in an Anabaptist church
  • Demonstrated commitment to the MDS lifestyle expectations and Anabaptist shared Convictions as outlined in the Employee Policy Handbook
  • Minimum of six year of human resource management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to function well as a team player
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and HR management software
  • Commitment to high professional standards and current in industry best practices
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability and willingness to travel approximately 10% time
  • Physical requirement: Work is mostly sedentary with long periods on the phone and at a computer terminal
  • Work environment: With the use of normal safety precautions typical of offices, meeting rooms, and in commercial vehicles, there is little risk of danger
