Denare Beach – August 23-29, 2026
The progress on the homes continued this week as we welcomed several new team members from Alberta, BC, and Ontario. On Tuesday Harold arrived to take the baton of leadership from Mark whose wonderful month of leadership sadly comes to an end.
Early in the week volunteers got acquainted with each other over games and nearby fishing was an attraction for some. On Tuesday evening a small group went the home of Kim who has been excited to move in and set up his new house. Volunteers helped assemble furniture and blessed Kim with beautiful singing to mark the occasion.
On Wednesday, Steve made us a fantastic fish fry. We enjoyed it very much and had good fellowship with him around the table. Thursday evening, a large group from us went on a Historic walking tour through Flin Flon with Ken as our tour guide. It was very interesting to hear about the history of the town. We ended the evening with a wonderful ice cream at the candy bar store. Some of us went fishing on Saturday with Dave and brought back fish for supper, again. It was delicious!
While all this was going on we also continued working on the houses:
- The home of Kim is basically done pending final inspection. MDS plans to help set up landscaping material.
- Finishing touches and clean up are happening in Ture’s home, as it is second in line to be finished. Work has started on door hardware, shelving, and final trim.
- The Monias home is looking great with the installation of interior doors, trim and fixtures.
- The busiest house this week has been Steve’s home where multiple teams installed cabinets, finished plumbing, flooring, and trim.
Thank you to our leaders and long term & weekly volunteers for a very special week, hard work, conversation, music, laughter, and lasting friendships.
