What MDS Is Doing

MDS volunteers will build new homes.

Texas has always proven to be desirable to our volunteers in the winter months. Bastrop is a “legacy” site for MDS with many good, long- term relationships between our volunteers and the locals.

Bastrop, TX is located about 30 miles southeast of Austin Texas. Nestled along the banks of the Colorado River sits Bastrop, “the most historic small town in Texas”. Bastrop is famous for its beautiful outdoor vistas. Among these are the revitalized Bastrop State Park, the 900-acre Lake Bastrop, and a handful of lovely parks. Bastrop County has around 11 % of the population living below the national poverty line in the US.
