Our weekend theme is John 10:10 “That all may have life and have it abundantly.” Friday’s Unit training will cover Project Operations; equipping unit volunteers to respond to disasters on various levels including working with partner agencies, investigating potential responses, and setting up/running a Unit project. Friday evening will feature sharing and a storytelling time. Saturday morning we will hear sharing from the MDS Search and Rescue Unit that operates in the nearby Arkansas wilderness. Our meeting officially ends with Saturday Lunch. Saturday afternoon attendees have the option to tour the MDS Search and Rescue station in Berryville, AR and/or visit other local attractions including Mid-States Specialty Eggs, or Roaring River State Park/fish hatchery.

SCHEDULE:

Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.: Unit Training on Project Operations (breakfast and lunch provided)
4 p.m.-8 p.m.Region Business Mtg. and storytelling (supper provided) .
Saturday 8 a.m.-noon: The MDS-SAR Story and MDS Sharing (breakfast and lunch provided)
12:45 p.m. (optional) Tour MDS-SAR station and other local attractions on your own .

LODGING & TRAVEL:

-The Ark Dormitory (private rooms each with attached bathroom) $40/night. To reserve Dormitory room(s) contact Becky King at 814-279-6959 or bking@mds.org

–Lazy Eagle Resort (small motel nearby) $95/night. To reserve Hotel room(s) call Lisa at 417-271-3390 (mention Mennonite Disaster Service)

-There are also many vacation rentals in the area if you would rather find your own group lodging accommodations.

For those Flying: The closest airports are Northwest Arkansas (XNA) and Springfield-Branson (SGF.) Both are about 1.25 hours from the camp and have rental vehicle options.

After Saturday lunch, those interested may carpool a short drive to tour the Arkansas MDS-SAR station in Berryville, AR. Then you may tour other attractions including touring Mid-States Specialty Eggs, Roaring River State Park and Fish Hatchery, or Thorncrown Chapel.
