Summey Bridge, Kaufmann Bridge, Beg Bridge – Black Mountain, NC

We had a total of 8 volunteers during this week 10/26-10/31, 4 Weekly, 1 Long Term, and 3 Leadership volunteers, to work on the Sumey, Kaufmann, and Beg Bridges in Black Mountain.

The volunteers continued to work on same 3 bridges during this week. Progress was as follows:

Summey:  No work on this bridge on Monday. On Tuesday they built bridge curbing, decking, and gabion baskets. Wednesday they finished the tire bump rail. No work on this bridge on Thursday. On Friday they finished screwing the deck plug in place and installed the weight limit sign.

Kaufmann: No work on this bridge on Monday. On Tuesday they received the stone for backfill and drive approach, finished welding and painting form for 6” back wall on road side. On Thursday, rock and footings/rip rap, and backfill. On Friday they installed the deck boards and form for back wall for concrete.

Beg: Wednesday, they built concrete forms and welded angles on bridge. On Thursday they finished all welding and forming back wall for concrete. On Friday they painted the welds and cleaned up.
